# Install Server and Client

## Getting Started with Nx Meta

A basic Nx Meta platform comprises one or more Mediaservers administered through a desktop client.

If you have an existing cloud account, you can log in with your existing cloud credentials instead of registering for a new account.

## Create an Nx Meta Account

Sign up for a Free account at the Nx Meta Developer Portal.

* Head to [meta.nxvms.com](https://meta.nxvms.com/)
* Click on [Create Account](https://meta.nxvms.com/register)
* Verify your email address and sign in.

## Download and Install Nx Meta.

To get started with the AI Manager, install the Nx Meta Client and Server on the same computer, or use a separate computer for the server.

You need both the client and server programs, but the server can be installed on another machine than the client. Typically the **server** is a computer connected to some **cameras** over the network, and the **client** can be installed on your **local workstation** or **laptop**.

Ensure you download Nx Meta version 6.0 or later to be able to use the AI Manager Plugin. Version 6.1.2 and later has the plugin included.

If the computer for the client meets the requirements, download and install the Nx Meta client and server using the steps below:

* [Download the Nx Meta client and server](https://meta.nxvms.com/download/releases), then continue with the next step.

* A suggested operating system will automatically appear.
* Select your target OS if you want to install the client on an OS different from the automatically selected one.
* Download the client package that is suitable for your client computer and OS.
* Download the server package that is built for your server architecture and OS.
* Run the installer for the client first and follow the installation process.
* Next install the Mediaserver on the same **or** on a separate device. The Mediaserver installation is similar to the client installation.
* Use the Nx Meta account you made earlier to login and configure the server.
